Suprisingly AT&T (after staying late for months so I could play with UNIX, around 1974) let me create my own job description, reverse engineer some of their apps & rewrite them. And JPMorgan let me write a whole series of tools to make my job easier! So, JPMorgan Private Bank, followed by any place that would let me look around and see what processes/programs etc need improvement! All of those are pretty large companies, and I'm getting more interested in mid-size companies as I get older, but they're going to be less well-known and more interesting for particular specialized reasons that aren't likely to apply to "most people".
