Well Macs are awesome, no one can say otherwise. But it can never get popular like PC's (unless the whole Personal Computer idea fades away someday) The reason is 'flexibility'. E.G. Windows is [sometimes poorly] compatible with more than 7000 Graphics cards yet Mac has to deal with less than 10. Microsoft has the most powerful and flexible (not the best) development environment and invested so much to have people using it. That keeps the market cycle running for Windows worldwide.

Design-wise, I think VAIO X,Y and Z are WAYYY sexier than Macs. But it's just a matter of personal taste.

Microsoft made a huge mistake staying on Win XP and IE6 for too long. Trying Windows 7 will offer an incomparably better user experience [than MaxOS]. Both regarding GUI design and engineering. I think this time MacOS represents pie charts!

Hey Ara,

Does this mean we will no longer be arguing over OS preference?
After more than 25 years on a Mac and praising it's ease of use, we have won one more victory.
Spread the word now that you have joined the "Cult of Mac" my follow minion!

Overheard at a conference: "Why a Mac?" "It is a lazy man's Linux".

I think Macs are all around great; good hardware and software put together well.

I'm a happy Thinkpad/Ubuntu user.

I've also switched to Mac after years of using PC platforms and ridiculing Apple followers (boy, was I wrong!)

Beyond the aesthetics and tactile usability of the Mac you'll learn in time the power of some software that comes for it.

I strongly recommend Quicksilver, a Spotlight alternative but much more versatile and expandable.

Also there's the Terminal that allows you to transparently use tons of useful tools and libraries straight from the command line. Gone will be the days of point-and-click for some tasks once you get the hang of it ;)

Congratulations on your job at Yahoo!
