IE6 dies hard Kevin Hale of Particletree dot com has written an article on the tenacity of Internet Explorer six where he takes a close look at some of the reasons why people aren't dumping the browser as quickly as some would have hoped. He argues that software that's ugly, buggy and slow isn't enough of a reason for users to seek out alternatives. In fact, Hale believes that the real reason for the quote unquote Firefox revolution that many of us witnessed not too long ago was in fact due to users' frustration with IE6's weakness against viruses, popups and spyware. He believes that patches to these problems in the form of toolbars that block popups and yes, even the advent of the iTunes music store, are the real reason for why less and less people are jumping the IE6 ship these days. Dojo 0.9 Ajaxian is reporting that a new version of Dojo, the JavaScript toolkit was released today. Version zero point nine sports many performance improvements while still coming in under the fifty k mark. Other improvements include improved accessibility support and a fully themeable widget system. How to hide the iPhone toolbar Firebug author Joe Hewitt has discovered how to hide the iPhone's Safari toolbar to make more room in the browser. With a simple JavaScript method call to window dot scrollto you can make the toolbar disappear, instantly freeing up valuable screen space for your site. You'll just have to remember detect the phone's rotation, and call the method again, as it re-appears when the phone goes from vertical to horizontal and back. Zend Framework Digital Web magazine is reporting that the Zend PHP Framework is in its first production release today.
